Requirements:
1. Trace Line/Nylon (Between 0.40mm or 0.50mm in diameter)
2. Round Shaped Cork (Available in most Tackle Shops)
3. 3 Way Swivel + 1 Barrel Swivel
4. One Needlepoint hook (Sizes can vary between 3.0 to 5.0)
5. Steel Wire/Piano Wire
6. 3 or 4 ounce Sinker
Attach your Hook to a piece of Steel wire +/- 10 cm. Attach the other end of the wire to the single barrel swivel. (See Fig. 1 Below)
Attach your trace line to the other end of the barrel swivel. This piece of Trace line should be about 50cm in length. Thread the loose end of this trace line through the centre of the Cork, and allow the cork to travel freely on the line.
Thereafter attach the loose end to one end of the 3 way Swivel. Using a slightly smaller diameter trace line, attach a piece of about 20cm to the other end of the 3 way swivel, and attach the loose end to your sinker. The third point on your 3 way swivel should then be attached to your main line, and that is it. Shad Trace complete. (See Fig 2 Below)
Tips: Always use Clear Nylon for your traces, to ensure that your trace maintains a low visibility to the fish. Use a figure eight knot for tying nylon to swivels and sinkers. Sinker lines should always be lower breaking strain to your trace line, so that you do not loose a fish if your sinker becomes snagged on a rock.
